The future of Melbourne Park is set to be showcased in Spain this month.
Melbourne & Olympic Parks (M&OP) has announced it will showcase its new state-of-the-art events centre, CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park, at Incentive and Business Travel and Meeting World 2019, held in Barcelona, Spain, on 19–21 November.
Scheduled for completion in late 2021, CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park is part of a multiyear $972 million redevelopment of the site.
Architecturally designed to embody Australia’s native landscape, CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park is only minutes from Melbourne’s lively CBD and connected by path, rail, road and river. Its new spaces stream natural light across the venue, while floor to ceiling windows invite the surrounding flora and fauna in.
The venue offers indoor and outdoor function spaces, while the menu will be designed around its Paddock to Plate philosophy, by which a cutting-edge kitchen and culinary team produce bespoke dishes using locally sourced and seasonal produce.
The gastronomy experience will be complemented with Victorian wines, locally brewed beers, small batch spirits and premium Melbourne-based coffee roasters.
Premier Events and Experiences General Manager Lara Burnes said the finished product would serve to enhance the city's "marvellous moments".
“CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park will join our impressive line-up of world-class venues including Rod Laver Arena, AAMI Park, Margaret Court Arena and Melbourne Arena," she said
"We are already seeing our vision come to life, with construction starting this month on the steel skeleton of the building."
