Tourism Fiji is celebrating another year of record visitor arrivals to the destination for the financial year 2018 – 2019, with growth across all of its key inbound markets.
The Fijian Bureau of Statistics (FBS) has reported almost 900,000 visitors to Fiji with an overall growth of 4.2% for 2018-2019 from the previous year.
“It is an exciting time for Fiji, we have seen consistent annual growth from our largest inbound markets of Australia and New Zealand but we are now seeing encouraging growth from the North American market (8%), Europe (6%) and the UK (5.5%),” commented Tourism Fiji CEO, Matthew Stoeckel.
At a glance:
“Australia is our largest in-bound market with 370,830 visitor arrivals in the last 12 months. The Australia market makes up 42% of our total visitor arrivals, so naturally it remains a huge focus for us," Stoeckel continued.
The launch of new properties such as Six Senses Fiji in the Mamanuca Islands, the recent opening of Pullman Nadi Bay Resort and Spa, multi-million dollar renovations across popular Denarau and Coral Coast properties, and new experiences such as Fun Hub by VOU Dance and EcoTrax, has helped stimulate greater interest in the destination among Australians.
“Our brand is anchored around the happiness that is felt when you arrive in Fiji. We launched a new campaign earlier this year that has been hugely successful for showcasing what makes Fiji such a special destination – and that is the locals. The new campaign called Bulanaires – showcases the people who are rich in happiness, and brings to life the warm and welcoming hospitality of Fijians that anyone who has visited Fiji will appreciate,” added Stoeckel.
"We have some great partnerships in place and activities planned to make the next year as successful and look forward to launching the next iteration of our Bulanaires campaign later in the year."
Fiji’s overall visitor arrivals for its financial year reached 895,137, FBS confirmed.
