After a long and overdue absence, the Brisbane market has returned to the Top 3 RevPAR Australian market movers, overtaking the Melbourne 5-Star segment, JLL Hotels' Tom Gibson has reported.

At a glance:

• The Top 3 RevPAR market movers in Australia for Year-To-Date through August 2019 continue to fluctuate, with Hobart, Perth’s 5-Star market and Brisbane leading the charge.
• While each of these markets face a headwind of well-documented supply, they have considerably outperformed market expectations.
• Brisbane’s overdue addition of new luxury product, (including W Brisbane, Calile James Street and Westin Brisbane) has supported ADR growth in the River City, and subsequent RevPAR growth.
• Both Perth's 5-Star segment and Hobart recorded strong gains in the month of August growing by 15.4% and 12.0% respectively, which was buoyed by a stronger events calendar.

The Top 3 Australian RevPar movers from YTD August 2019 vs 2018 are:

1. Hobart +8.9%

2. Perth 5 Star +6.6%

3. Brisbane + 0.6%
