Mr Commons has served in leadership positions in the accommodation industry for 22 years, including substantial periods for global brands like Novotel, Shangri-La and the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Cairns. He was most recently the Hotel Manager for Sunlover Reef Cruises.
Senior Vice President Operations, Warren Cullum, said Mr Commons was perfectly suited to his new role with Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific.
"Having spent the last decade managing accommodation in Cairns, Nick knows what is required to provide personalised holiday experiences for travellers and is adept at ensuring his team delivers exceptional service so guests feel right at home,” Mr Cullum said.
“He is a high-calibre appointment who is extensively experienced across all aspects of hospitality and is looking forward to the change in scenery that comes with his move to one of New South Wales’s premier tourist destinations.”
Mr Commons will oversee the daily operations of the 201-room Ramada Shoal Bay, which boasts indoor and outdoor pools, a children’s pool, onsite bars and restaurants, day spa, fitness centre and meeting facilities suited to conferences, events and weddings.
The property is one of 65 across the Asia Pacific region overseen by Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific and its subsidiaries. The property includes permanent residences, resort rooms for the general public and apartments owned by Club Wyndham South Pacific, Australia’s largest timeshare club.
