The state’s peak tourism and accommodation body, Tourism Accommodation Australia NSW, has appointed two experienced new members to its board. TAA CEO Michael Johnson said Jeroen Meijer, General Manager PARKROYAL Darling Harbour and Shaun O’Bryan, General Manager Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort were both recently appointed.
The state’s peak tourism and accommodation body, Tourism Accommodation Australia NSW, has appointed two experienced new members to its board. TAA CEO Michael Johnson said Jeroen Meijer, General Manager PARKROYAL Darling Harbour and Shaun O’Bryan, General Manager Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort were both recently appointed.
Mr Johnson said the respected pair join the Association’s governing body at a crucial time for the industry.
“As we all know, we are in the midst of a “once in lifetime” pandemic and facing a critical skills shortage,” said Mr Johnson.
“Jeroen and Shaun together bring 45 years of combined experience as well as new ideas and a new enthusiasm to the board as we continue to navigate this difficult period and lead our members into recovery. I welcome them to the board on behalf of our members.”
Mr Meijer was appointed General Manager of PARKROYAL Darling Harbour in September 2018 and has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry.
He began his career in The Netherlands, gaining extensive operational expertise in hotels and resorts across Europe, Asia-Pacific and more recently at Pan Pacific Melbourne before transferring to Sydney.
Under his leadership, PARKROYAL Darling Harbour has been recognised in both state and national awards, including Awards for Accommodation Excellence for three consecutive years.
Mr O’Bryan has more than 25 years experience in tourism and hospitality and is GM of two renowned Hunter Valley properties, Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort and Elysia Wellness Retreat.
Since joining Minor Hotels in 2019 Mr O’Bryan has successfully managed the 360 acres Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort including the on-site restaurants and 18-hole championship golf course, and the 32 acres of Elysia Wellness Retreat, heading up a team of 150 people across both properties.
He previously held multiple leadership positions within many Forbes 5 Star and AAA 5 Diamond rated international luxury hotel and resorts including The Ritz-Carlton and the Ojai Valley Inn and Belmond El Encanto in California.
