He joins Vibe Darling Harbour fresh from a stint with the Ovolo Woolloomooloo luxury boutique hotel in Sydney, where he has excelled at attracting both leisure and corporate clients, and in making every guest stay a memorable experience.
With a remarkable career that spans some of Sydney’s most celebrated hotels—including the Sydney Harbour Marriott, Sofitel Darling Harbour, and The Star—Gabriel brings a wealth of knowledge and innovation across both rooms and food and beverage operations.
Gabriel maintains the highlight of his career to date was his time in China where he managed various luxury hotels in Shanghai and Beijing and gained valuable insights into the complexities and nuances of the various markets, and in elevating guest experiences across borders/languages.
Brett Skinner, General Manager Adina-Vibe Darwin Waterfront
DARWIN: Veteran hotelier, Brett Skinner, is headed for a tropical sea change as the newly appointed General Manager of the dual-branded Adina-Vibe Darwin Waterfront. Brett has more than 20 years of hospitality experience in diverse markets across Australia – including prior experience in the Northern Territory - and brings a strong operational and commercial focus to the role.
In his most recent role, as General Manager of Novotel Newcastle Beach, Brett led strategic operations across rooms, food and beverage, and conferencing - driving business development and fostering team growth. Prior to this, he managed Novotel Darwin CBD, where he successfully increased market share and profitability, engaging closely with local government and industry stakeholders. At Cooinda Lodge Kakadu, he worked collaboratively with Traditional Owners, developing culturally immersive experiences and community-driven strategies.
TFE Hotel’s Senior Director of Operations ANZ, Tish Nyar, said Brett had a strong record of accomplishment - implementing growth strategies, enhanced operational efficiencies, and delivering strong financial results.
“Brett’s experience in food and beverage management, community engagement, and Indigenous partnerships makes him a valuable addition to our team,” Nyar said. “We are excited to have Brett on board as we look forward to a new chapter at Adina-Vibe Darwin Waterfront.”
