Serviced apartments are in demand in Bali and it’s a new offering there. A serviced apartment is actually a home away from home.

Unlike a hotel which is very small, people stay for a few nights and it is not home, it’s a hotel room. It’s not an apartment, it’s a room, it doesn’t have a living room, it doesn’t have a kitchen, it doesn’t have multiple bedrooms. Even the largest of suites is still a very big room. That is the key difference between hotels and serviced apartments.

Right now, you can see the hotel brands are also developing long stay products and brands to cater to the people who travel with a family who don’t want to come and stay in separate hotel rooms, even if you can put them on the same floor or in adjoining rooms, because it is still a hassle to go between multiple rooms and you can only adjoin two rooms. There is a real demand for a serviced apartment where a large family can book three bedrooms, for example.

What is also happening is that serviced apartment players are not content being just serviced apartment players, because we all know that the shorter the room rate, the more expensive it gets.
