A private buyer has made their foray into the WA hospitality sector, purchasing ALH Group’s Brighton Hotel in Mandurah which sold under the hammer for $3.675 million.
More than 50 people attended the onsite auction of the Brighton Hotel, which was acquired by ALH Group as part of a portfolio of 12 assets from collapsed company Compass Hotel Group. The sale represents the second divestment in the $86 million portfolio following the group’s sale of the Princes Road Tavern in 2012.
ALH Group retains ownership of the remaining 10 assets, which includes well-known venues such as The Carine, The Greenwood and the Albion.
The Brighton Hotel, located at 12 Mandurah Terrace is a purpose-built tavern and restaurant located on a 1,300sqm landholding offering north-west estuary views. The venue includes a restaurant, rear public bar and courtyard, and upstairs function area – all of which capitalise on outstanding views.
CBRE Hotels’ Ryan McGinnity and Chloe Mason steered the sale process, with colleague Ben Younger auctioneer on the day.
Mr McGinnity said the waterfront venue’s location in the growing Mandurah region was a key selling factor.
“The purchaser was looking for a new opportunity to diversify their business interests and, the Brighton Hotel being a well-established venue in a sought after location, was ideal,” Mr McGinnity said.
“Offering such a prominent position on the Mandurah foreshore, and close to other amenity, the Brighton Hotel is positioned for a strong future as a family-owned operation.
