One of Perth’s newest shopping centres, The Gateway Shopping Precinct at Alkimos Beach, is settling into its beachside location with new leases for a tavern and food tenancies, including a tapas restaurant.
Colliers International’s Chris Bartlett said the restaurant would occupy a 245sqm tenancy and the tavern a 1400sqm space in new stages of the shopping centre, which is being developed by Mount Hawthorn-based Ecorp Project Management.
“The fit out has started on the restaurant and the food tenancies, which are due to open early in 2018 and the signing of the tavern lease has cleared the way for construction of stage five at the centre,” Mr Bartlett said.
In other developments at the centre, Plus Fitness 24/7 has also opened its doors, providing a 24-hour gym for local residents.
“The residential area is growing quickly at Alkimos Beach which now has 2590 homes and a population of 6269, so there’s strong support in the community for more local amenity,” Mr Bartlett said.
The Gateway Shopping Precinct, which is located on the corner of Marmion Avenue and Graceful Boulevard, opened at the end of 2016 with an IGA as an anchor tenant.
“The project has seven stages and is in its fourth year of development,” said Director of Ecorp Project Management George Naoum.
The centre’s specialty shops were joined this year by a medical centre, a pharmacy, a child care centre and a child play centre.
Government land agency LandCorp and Lendlease are steering the master plan for Alkimos Beach and the wider Alkimos suburb, which is expected to accommodate a future population of 15,000.
