Construction has started on the $330 million expansion of the Adelaide Casino into a world-class integrated entertainment destination, which is scheduled to be completed by 2020.
Adelaide Casino General Manager Luke Walker said the highly-anticipated expansion will deliver a world-class entertainment precinct in South Australia offering new restaurants, bars, cafes and a luxury hotel and spa.

The expansion of Adelaide Casino also includes remodelling the existing Adelaide Casino building in the historic Railway Station to match the high standards the new development will set, while protecting its special character which will remain intact,” said Mr Walker.
“Local participation requirements in the construction contract ensure we’re maximising the benefits of the expansion for South Australian contractors and suppliers.
“The investment SKYCITY Entertainment Group is making in the Adelaide Casino expansion is a vote of confidence for the South Australian economy and we hope it will lead to further private investment in the state’s tourism sector.
“The South Australian tourism industry has so much to offer interstate and international visitors, and the introduction of this new facility, complete with luxury hotel accommodation, outstanding food and beverage offerings and world class entertainment spaces will help to attract high-end visitors to the vibrant Riverbank Precinct and to the state.”
Hansen Yuncken State Manager Mark Rosenboom said he was grateful for the long history Hansen Yuncken has with the Adelaide Casino and to again be undertaking a redevelopment on the site.
“We are excited to be partnering with SKYCITY in the expansion of the Adelaide Casino. To be working on a project that we originally undertook in 1985 is a special experience and one we are looking forward to undertaking.”
“This project is going to benefit the South Australian economy by attracting visitors to Adelaide and specifically the redeveloped Riverbank Precinct.”
A total of 1,000 construction professionals will be involved on the project throughout construction and a further 800 operational jobs will be created when complete.
Hansen Yuncken has been contracted to deliver the majority of works for the expansion with State Manager, Mark Rosenboom joining the Premier of South Australia, Steven Marshall onsite today and Adelaide Casino General Manager Luke Walker to mark construction commencing.
