Iconic Hotels has officially opened their Abode Kingston Hotel in Canberra, the sixth hotel within their flagship Abode Hotels portfolio.
Formerly Abode Group, Iconic Hotels is a division of Geocon, the largest independent construction, development, hotelier and employer in the ACT. Iconic Hotels owns and operates seven hotels in Canberra and the surrounding region, and two food and beverage outlets.
Along with a suite of hospitality offerings, two more hotels in Canberra’s inner-north and west are also in development.
The hotels slated for Braddon and Belconnen are designed to complement Geocon’s Midnight and Republic precincts.
In addition, three luxury hotel offerings unparalleled in the Canberra accommodation market, will also open in the Parliamentary Triangle, Canberra City and Kingston Arts precinct within the next four years.
Founder and managing director, Nick Georgalis said Abode Kingston is an exciting addition to the existing Abode Hotels brand and growing Iconic Hotels portfolio.
“Abode Kingston presents 63 new hotel rooms to the Canberra accommodation market. An additional 330 hotel rooms delivered as part of our Midnight and Republic developments will further cater to future travel market demand.”
“Iconic Hotels is setting the pace for hotel development and delivery in the ACT,” Mr Georgalis said.
Rien Donkin, general manager of Iconic Hotels said, “It’s an exciting time for the hotel and hospitality industry in Canberra.”
“As a local independent organisation, it is important that we actively contribute to industry growth and development by responding to business and leisure tourism needs.”
“Close to the business hub of Barton and cultural attractions of the Parliamentary Triangle, Abode Kingston’s premium location offers something for both the corporate and leisure guest.”
Welcoming its first guests last Friday, the four storey, 63 room hotel took 36 weeks to construct, and involved 525 onsite workers, for a total of 5,606 hours.
