Canford Property Group announces that they, together with tier one builder Multiplex, have been engaged to advise on a feasibility for a site for sale in Surfers Paradise which "is proposed to be the destination for a new 200 room 4/5 star international hotel."
Canford Property Group told WILLIAMS MEDIA "the Gold Coast is experiencing a shortage of new hotel accommodation. Only one brand new hotel opened its doors since the Hilton Surfers Paradise opened in 2010. That latest 5 star hotel is The Darling which opened in 2018 at The Star Casino."
"Considered the tourism and events capital of Australia, the coast in the midst of a tourism spike. 300 days of annual sunshine, world sporting events, conferences, the lower Australian dollar, and the increase of Asian tourists travelling independently, as well as in tour groups all underline the reasons why the Gold Coast is an ever growing holiday and conference destination," they said.
The Hotel Futures published, “the number of international and national visitors to the coast is growing steadily, data for FY2017 for the Gold Coast reveals:
Roland Evans, Managing Director of Canford Property Group notes that "Hotel groups such as ACCOR and Marriott are acquiring keys as they see a shortage of hotel rooms and the recent purchase of The Hilton Surfers Paradise by Jerry Schwartz for $70 million demonstrates confidence in the Gold Coast market."
Jerry Schwartz is reported to be the largest independent hotel owner in Australia now with 14 hotels, The Hilton is his first Queensland acquisition.
"Typically, the hotel market on the Gold Coast offers either aging assets which require extensive renovation or management rights. We therefore see a strong appetite across the market for new hotel accommodation," says Evans.

Evans told WILLIAMS MEDIA "the 2,129m2 site has a DA for 211 apartments over 45 levels. Due to the appetite for hotel rooms the vendors wish to offer their land as a Joint Venture proposition to the hotel development market".
"The joint venture opportunity has already attracted the attention of an international hotel brand and the pro forma for the room sizes, keys and facilities have been accounted for. The project will go on the market in mid February to identify investment partners."
Laura Langford, Senior Sales Executive at Canford Property Group.
