ResortBrokers Australia has announced that Trudy Crooks will move from National Sales Manager to become the new Managing Director.
Australia’s leading specialist agency in the accommodation sector has “taken the business forward” with the announcement of five major changes in its management structure.
ResortBrokers Australia has confirmed that founder and former Managing Director Ian Crooks will become the company Chairman while daughter Trudy Crooks moves from National Sales Manager to become the new MD.
Three newly created roles as directors will be taken up by Alex Cook, Tim Crooks (Director of New Developments & Hotels) and Carla Cook (Director of Marketing and Strategy).
“Over the past eight to nine years, the scale and complexity of our business has changed dramatically and these new appointments, I believe, more adequately reflect the roles that Trudy, Tim, Alex and Carla have taken,” Ian Crooks said.
“They’ve all taken leadership roles and driven this business forward and this structure gives us the ability to continue to grow our position as the leaders in the market,” Mr Crooks said.
“They’re all part of a second generation that has made its mark, taking the whole ResortBrokers team to new levels of operation and success.”
Established in 1985 by Ian Crooks, ResortBrokers was the first to focus exclusively on the accommodation business and property sales and is now Australia’s longest established and most experienced specialist agency in the accommodation sector.
Based in Brisbane, ResortBrokers now has more than 40 specialists covering every state and territory in Australia. The company’s core business remains in motels, management rights and caravan parks but in recent years it has focused on off the plan management rights associated with large-scale apartment developments and has established a dedicated Hotels division.
ResortBrokers describe itself as a “proudly family run business” and Trudy Crooks has been handling recruiting, induction and all broker training. She travels extensively to support her sales team and monitor the region’s diverse and dynamic accommodation markets.
Trudy still acts personally on key transactions nationwide from Tasmania to the Top End. Among her many significant sales is FV Brisbane, the city's first 5-star Peppers property, and the largest management rights sale ever in Australia. She also handled the multi-property Art Series Hotel Group sale for Melbourne-based Deague Group, and landmark CBD hotel sales including Sebel Launceston and Elan Soho Suites in Darwin.
Tim Crooks has been working exclusively in the management rights sales sector for many years, and he's widely regarded as Australia’s foremost expert on both off-the-plan permanent residential and short-term accommodation management rights and hotels in major apartment projects. His expertise includes the evaluation, set-up, marketing and sale of the business and associated real estate.
Alex Cook is now one of the most prolific management rights agents in Australia, having sold around 150 businesses for a combined value of more than $250 million over the last eight years. Along the way, he has notched up several record-breaking benchmarks and has acted on some of the most noteworthy transactions in the industry.
These include The Beach Apartments, Beach Haven and Signature at Broadbeach, Australia 108 at Southbank in Melbourne)and AVANT in the Melbourne CBD, among many others. He was named 2019 Sales Broker of the Year by the Australian Resident Accommodation Managers Association’s (ARAMA).
Carla Cook (nee Crooks, married to Alex), with her UK agency experience in design and advertising, takes on a new role which will see her drive the inhouse marketing and business strategy.
Senior executive roles were also created for ResortBrokers long-serving specialists with Glenn Millar (Sunshine Coast), Russell Rogers (south coast NSW) and Len Booth (Central Queensland) all given the added responsibility of mentoring and training within the network.
