Ms Hopkins said her previous role had given her a global perspective of the industry's importance.
"Our industry encourages people to collaborate and make impactful decisions, exchange information which can save a life and share experiences that open the mind to a whole new world," she said.
"I can't wait to apply this to CINZ as we continue to make the business of business events, stronger, sustainable and always relevant."
CINZ Board Chair Tony Gardner says Ms Hopkins' broad, international experience working with clients and dealing with global industry topics would be "invaluable" for CINZ as the country moves to a new level of competition on the world stage.
“She is a warm, relatable person who connects naturally and is looking forward to seeing how CINZ can provide even more value to our members," he said.
Lisa Hopkins will begin her new role as Chief Executive of CINZ based in Auckland on Monday, 3 February 2020.
