Plans for a new Rydges Hotel on the Port Adelaide waterfront have been submitted to the state government for review.
Sydney-based developer CK Property Group has released plans for a new $19 million Rydges Hotel proposed for Port Adelaide's waterfront.
To be situated on McLaren Wharf, the six-storey, 180-room hotel would feature a restaurant and bar, as well as an open terrace area with outdoor dining.
According to the group, the development is in response to the $90BN in new Defence Spending the Federal Government has committed to.

Port Adelaide is the nearest centre to the Naval Shipbuilding yards at Osbourne, which is where the 12 new attack class submarines and 9 new Hunter Class Navy Frigates will be built and maintained over the next three decades.
The subject site is located within the Regional Centre Zone and more specifically is in the ‘McLaren’s Wharf Policy Area 44’ of the Port Adelaide Enfield Council Development Plan.

As part of a report prepared for the State Commission Assessment Panel, planning firm Ekistics said the hotel would continue the re-gentrification of Port Adelaide.
"The high-quality tourism offering will enhance the aesthetics of the immediate local area as well as the longer views over the port from various vantage points," the report said.
"In addition to boosting the availability of local tourist accommodation the development will be a destination driver for Port Adelaide, encouraging not just tourists but also new local residents who will be encouraged to live in an area experiencing investment and growth."
Other comparable historic ports around the country to be redeveloped in recent years include Freemantle in WA, Southbank in QLD, Docklands in Vic and Darling Harbour/Barrangaroo in NSW.
