Quest Apartment Hotels’ General Manager of Growth & Capital Strategy, James Shields, has been appointed Chairperson of the Property Council’s Hotel Property Committee (NSW), having been a member for 2 years.
The Hotel Property Committee represents the interests of the hotel property industry, giving rise to hotel and tourism policy and advocacy, industry education, and networking opportunities.
In what remains a challenging period for the tourism and accommodation sector, the Committee chaired by James will encourage peer collaboration and engagement.
“I’m proud to be among an accomplished group of professionals spanning diverse tourism industries to contemplate important questions, share insights and leverage our collective strength as we work towards recovery.
“The past twelve months, while complex, have created conditions ripe for growth and forward momentum. There is a lot we can learn from one and other as our industry re-emerges and redefines itself”, he said.
A qualified Chartered Accountant, James started his career with Ernst & Young in Melbourne, where he worked in the assurance advisory services and corporate finance divisions. Following this, he worked with global financial advisory group Rothschild & Co as an Associate Director within the mergers and acquisitions group, in the investment banking division, in both London and Melbourne.
James joined Quest Apartment Hotels in 2013. In his position as General Manager of Growth & Capital Strategy, he is responsible for managing the Group’s capital and integration strategy, and leading transformation and development initiatives.
