Nothing quite beats the feeling after a long day of coming home to your favourite streaming service, taking off your shoes and pouring yourself a gin and tonic. While they taste great going down, waking up with a raging headache the next day takes away some of the enjoyment. Suddenly, that G&T isn’t as comforting as you thought it would be.
Tomorrow is International Gin and Tonic Day, arguably the best day on the calendar, but this year we think things should be done a little different. Instead of treating yourself to your favourite Gin and Tonic, or Gin cocktail, and making up for it over the weekend with a horrible headache, opt for a non-alcoholic Gin to make your favourite comfort drink.
Today we’re fortunate enough to have a healthy alternative for everything – plant-based meat, dairy-free milk choices, gluten-free bread - and liquor isn’t any different. Just like non-alcoholic wine and beer, there is now the option of non-alcoholic spirits, and they’re made here in Australia.
Gin and Tonic has never tasted better, while being as alcohol-free as Lyre’s Gin spirits. Tasting exactly like your favourite Gin, the only difference is the alcohol content. Lyre’s range recently won the 2021 Product of The Year Award, voted by consumers- so if you need extra convincing, take the consumer’s word for it.
As this is an International Day to celebrate, and we still can’t travel internationally, let the flavours take you abroad instead. The Lyre’s Gin range comes in many flavours, such as a dry London Spirit with juniper and citrus or an Italian Orange with blood orange and red citrus with maraschino.

Gin and Tonic
INGREDIENTS
- 45mL Lyre's London Dry Spirit
- 120mL premium bottled tonic water
- 1 pink grapefruit slice
METHOD: Add ingredients in glass, stir, fill with ice
Passionfruit Martini
INGREDIENTS
- 60mL Lyre's Dry London Spirit
- 7.5mL premium vanilla syrup
- 30mL fresh passionfruit pulp
- 15mL Lime Juice
- Optional: 60mL Lyre’s Classico (a non-alcoholic homage to prosecco) (on the side)*
METHOD: Shake hard briefly, fine strain. Serve Prosecco in separate shot glass
Festival Spritz
INGREDIENTS
- 30mL Lyre’s Dry London Spirit
- 30mL Lyre’s Apéritif Dry
- 90mL premium bottled Mediterranean tonic water
- Thin cucumber slice
- 4 strawberry pieces
METHOD: Add over ice, stir
