Sean Hunt, Area Vice President Australia, New Zealand & Pacific of Marriott International said “Our portfolio in Melbourne features seven of Marriott International’s brands and AC Hotels brings one of our most exciting hotel experiences globally.”
AC Hotel by Marriott Melbourne Southbank marks the introduction of Marriott International’s coveted design-driven brand, AC Hotels by Marriott®, to the Australian market.
Owned by Capital Alliance and designed by DKO Architecture, the hotel incorporates modern design inspired by the urban locale and the AC Hotel’s European heritage. From its contemporary foyer to the elevated check-in lounge, pool, bar and restaurant, its elegant, bold form is encapsulated by a signature jewel-like frame.
Located between vibrant South Melbourne and the cultural and arts Southbank precinct, 205 thoughtfully considered guest rooms and suites offer sweeping views of the city skyline. Taking a restrained approach to design with a focus on quality and functionality, guests will appreciate the sleek interiors, spaces for relaxation and productivity which guests can enjoy without being overwhelmed.
“I am truly delighted to introduce the signature AC Hotels by Marriott brand, bringing a new style of hotel stay to the Australian market. Working in collaboration with leading architecture and design firm, DKO, we have brought to life the core elements of the AC design philosophy - every detail of the experience is meticulously over-thought to create a seamless stay,” said Harry Singh, General Manager of AC Hotel by Marriott Melbourne Southbank.
“The AC brand is synonymous with sophisticated design with purpose, so guests have everything they need and nothing they don’t. We’ve orchestrated the entire hotel experience – our approach to every space is optimal comfort and utility through to modern décor, with open layouts offering functional beauty without distraction,” said Harry Singh.
The hotel leisure facilities include an outdoor, infinity edge swimming pool spanning the width of the building, 24-hour fitness centre and food and beverage outlets including the AC Lounge® - a modern co-working space for creative gatherings by day and a buzzing social hub by night. An easy three minute walk from the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Level 6 offers 576sqm of meeting space, with floor-to-ceiling windows opening up to an expansive wrap-around terrace with access to the infinity pool and bar deck.
The AC opening marks Marriott International’s ninth hotel in Melbourne and the third new hotel to open in the Victorian capital over the last 12 months.
Sean Hunt, Area Vice President Australia, New Zealand & Pacific of Marriott International said, “A key part of Marriott International’s growth strategy is the introduction of new brands into the market, particularly luxury and lifestyle brands that appeal to the changing needs of travellers. Despite the challenges of the last almost two years, we are continuing to invest and expand our presence in the Melbourne market.
“Our portfolio in Melbourne features seven of Marriott International’s brands and AC Hotels brings one of our most exciting hotel experiences globally.” said Sean Hunt.
The AC Hotels brand originated in Spain, created by Antonio Catalan, who was inspired by his childhood growing up in his European family inn. Catalan’s entrepreneurial spirit paved the way for AC’s “perfectly precise hotelTM” featuring thoughtfully designed spaces with fierce overthinking.
