The Ritz-Carlton, Perth and The Australian String Quartet (ASQ) have teamed up to showcase a carefully curated culinary and audible journey throughout the hotel.
The one-night-only event on Tuesday 9th of August will bring an exclusive experience to just 40 guests, exploring the pleasures of taste and sound in a specially curated sensory journey.
Guests will be invited to experience music by the ASQ in the intimate and relaxed setting of the hotel and its signature restaurant Hearth, alongside an experiential four-course set menu and wine pairing from Voyager Estate designed to move in tandem with the music.
A true journey of the senses connecting closely with each course on the menu, the event brings together an innovative mix through sound and taste.
Starting with pre-performance drinks and canapes in the hotel’s light-filled open foyer on level two, overlooking the beautiful Elizabeth Quay, guests will be treated to a bespoke 30-minute live performance by the ASQ.
Showcasing the breadth of colours that the Quartet can produce, the performance will include music from the European classical and romantic periods, including Haydn and Schumann, through to contemporary works by Australian and British composers such as Paul Stanhope and Thomas Ades.
Guests will then progress down to the hotel’s signature restaurant, Hearth, where they will enjoy a four-course menu curated by Sous Chef Brian Cole, showcasing the finest seasonal ingredients from celebrated local suppliers.
The menu and wine pairings have been curated to match the music, for a culinary experience that moves in synchronicity with the performances. A heavy and a light wine from Voyager Estate with each course will reflect the changing characteristics of the music and the complexity of the dishes.
Embracing the traditional skill of cooking over fire through the use of an open hearth at the focal point of the restaurant, guests will be immersed in the action of the chefs preparing dishes like Western Australian lobster, Linley Valley pork and Margaret River wagyu.
Between the second and third course, the Quartet will perform an excerpt from the award-winning album Impermanence/Disintegration by Bryce Dessner, titled ‘Pulsing, which features as part of chorographer Raphael Bonachela’s Impermanence by Sydney Dance Company and ASQ.
Guests will also have a chance to meet ASQ musicians Dale Barltrop, Francesca Hiew, Christopher Cartlidge and Michael Dahlenburg following the performance, with a Q&A that will delve into the intricacies of the audible and culinary journey experienced that evening.
