IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hospitality groups, has announced the renewal of its partnership with the PGA of Australia which sees IHG continue as Major Partner of the PGA of Australia, the Official Partner of the PGA Tour of Australasia and the Official Partner of the 2022 and 2023 Fortinet Australian PGA Championship. This is the third major sporting partnership IHG has signed this year, following the high-profile signings of Rugby Australia and SANZAR.
As part of IHG’s commitment to supporting sport at all levels, this partnership will see the IHG Hotels & Resorts team work closely with the PGA to provide accommodation requirements for staff, players and fans throughout the season across all of its Australasian brands up until June 2024.
In addition, the 2022 PGA Scramble Championship Final will be held at InterContinental Sanctuary Cove from 5 to 8 December 2022.
Reflecting the increasing popularity of golf tourism, the new sporting partnership will showcase some of IHG Hotels & Resorts premium golfing properties including hosting the nationwide final of The Scramble Series at the Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove Resort while also providing IHG One Rewards members and clients with a range of unique experiences and premium hospitality.
Dean Jones, Vice President Commercial, IHG Hotels & Resorts Japan, Australasia & Pacific, said “With the demand for golf tourism on the rise, this partnership is the perfect marriage of sport and travel. We’re thrilled to be working with PGA of Australia to support golf at the highest level while providing players, staff and fans with the perfect place at any one of our hotel brands across Australasia.”
Michael McDonald, PGA of Australia Commercial Director - Australasia, said “We’re delighted to have IHG Hotels & Resorts onboard as a Major Partner and know that their range of hotel brands across Australasia will provide a welcoming and comfortable home-away-from home for our staff and players,”
The announcement comes off the back of IHG Hotels & Resorts recent signing of sporting partnerships with Rugby Australia and SANZAR.
