The official arrival of Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport marks the debut of Australia’s first airport-based Crowne Plaza.
The official arrival of Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport marks the debut of Australia’s first airport-based Crowne Plaza. The upscale 252-room hotel’s contemporary multi-million-dollar refurbishment is underway, further elevating the property as one of Sydney Airport’s leading hotels.
Formerly the Holiday Inn Sydney Airport, the evolution to the Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport, now delivers a premium experience for business and leisure travellers alike. The transformation introduces a new wave of modern accommodation where the stay is part of the journey, alongside revamped dining venues, bars, public spaces, and conference and meeting rooms.
The first phase of the property's transformation, thoughtfully designed by Stack Studio, has been unveiled, showcasing a stylish new welcome area that offers a fresh take on the traditional hotel lobby. Modern reception pods, a striking feature wall, and contemporary pendant lighting all add to the inspiring flow of the new area and set the scene for the upcoming bold new standard for the property.
On the culinary front, its restaurants and bars are undergoing extensive reimagining to better align with the latest dining trends with local nuances. Biggles Bar & Grill, one of the property’s signature restaurants, will soon unveil a revitalised look and feel, along with updates to its menu.
Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport General Manager, David Ross, said the move to Crowne Plaza felt right and in line with today’s evolving traveller needs.
“Whether it’s an annual family holiday or business trip, we know guests are seeking to make travel as seamless as possible – right from the get-go. We are proud to be welcoming guests to a new era of airport accommodation, where it’s all about making their stay part of the journey.”
“Our vision for the Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport is to create a somewhere that appeals not just to hotel guests, but also to the local community here in Sydney,” said David Ross. “The refresh to our food and beverage venues has been designed to ensure both our guests and locals feel welcomed and inspired every time they visit, now with something a little more sophisticated.”
This 252-room hotel offers a range of premium facilities, including a gym, sauna, 24-hour room service, and stylish, contemporary guestrooms. After a transformative $15 million refurbishment in 2022, each room has been designed to restore, inspire, and rejuvenate. The interiors feature earthy tones, bronze light fixtures, and leather headboards, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. In-room amenities include Nespresso machines, mini-fridges, Antipodes skincare products, and plush bedding, with upcoming upgrades to Chromecast connectivity.
Owner and director, Wade Huang, looks forward to the exciting new era ahead for Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport.
“We proudly welcome Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport at Australia’s largest international gateway. With global travel demand surging, we’ve partnered with Trilogy Hotels to operate the property, leveraging their expertise to help realise our vision, alongside the elevated appeal of the Crowne Plaza brand through IHG Resorts & Hotels. As the airport market rebounds, we’re excited to share the full scope of the hotel’s reimagination in the new year,” says Wade Huang.
Centrally situated in Mascot, Sydney’s transport gateway, the hotel is ideally located with direct links to the city centre, only a short train ride from the city's famous landmarks, and nearby to The Entertainment Quarter and Sydney Cricket & Sports Ground.
With the major terminal upgrade currently underway at Sydney International Airport - which is set to make travel time faster and more efficient - the launch of Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport is perfectly timed to coincide with the peak travel season, complete with an upgraded airport shuttle service.
Popular with conferencing and events, the Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport offers six versatile event rooms with capacity for all sizes, from small and intimate meetings to large functions of up to 90 guests. The space features modern furnishings, floor-to-ceiling windows, high ceilings, private bar facilities, and 863 square metres of meeting space, and further updates are set to elevate this offering.
Crowne Plaza Sydney Airport has officially rebranded and its new updates will all be revealed in 2025.
