"The Australian pub sector has experienced another solid year over the last 12 months, with favourable economic conditions marginally counterbalanced by uncertainty caused primarily by the financial services Royal Commission and the Federal Election. Transaction volume across the Eastern seaboard reached $1.2b+* with a total of 88 transactions registered," says HTL.
"Activity in NSW regional and coastal markets appears to be driven largely by the continued consolidation of stock in the Metropolitan market place. With Purchasers now electing to look further afield in search of value for money opportunities, necessitating them to seek assets in locations they might not have historically considered."
"With a large portion of the Coles hotel assets located in Queensland, and with legislation only enabling the sale of off premise liquor through the ownership of a Commercial Hotel Licence, any such deal was going to be strictly scrutinised by the Regulator," says HTL.
"In March 2018, the NSW Parliament passed a raft of amendments to the Gaming Machines Act 2001. The changes followed a Liquor & Gaming NSW review of the Local Impact Assessment (LIA) scheme, which assesses the impact of introducing additional gaming machines into a local community."
