New research from insurance comparison site InsureMyTrip has found Brisbane to be one of top cities to visit for senior citizens internationally.
Brisbane has beaten out the likes of Vancouver and San Francisco to be named as the third-best city in the world for senior citizens to visit.
Insurance comparison site InsureMyTrip ranked 76 cities around the world based on factors relevant to senior citizen travellers, with Queensland's capital coming in behind Edinburgh and Vienna as a top-three destination.
InsureMyTrip segmented factors into four categories (Tourism, Well-being, Mobility and Demographics), which were organized in order of the most important and relevant factors while travelling as a senior.
Brisbane's overall rating of 7.33 included high scores in spaciousness (10), limited mobility access (10) and peacefulness (9.20).
It was also one of only three cities from outside Europe to be included in the top ten.
Number one city Edinburgh scored highly in categories including limited mobility access (10), spaciousness (9.76) and healthcare (8.19), offering several free NHS healthcare services for holiday-makers from overseas.
The study also revealed the cities that failed to meet the needs of travelling seniors, with Mumbai, Kolkata – both in India – ranking as the worst.
