The Queensland Government has released the Value Proposition Assessment for its 2032 Olympic bid, which forecasts a range of social and economic benefits for the state.
A 2032 Queensland Olympic Games could mean a tourism injection of more than $20 billion into the state's economy, including $10 billion for regional areas, according to a new report.
The Queensland Government has released the Value Proposition Assessment for its Olympic bid ahead of a top-level leadership meeting of key partners in Brisbane.
Benefits stemming from a successful bid, as identified in the Value Proposition, include $8.6 billion in increased export opportunities; quantifiable economic benefits of $7.4 billion; $20.2 billion in international tourist expenditure; and the fact 80 per cent of venues already exist or could be delivered through temporary solutions.

The report also estimates the event could assist in the creation of 130,000 direct jobs, 10,000 of which would be in the Games year, plus tens of thousands of indirect jobs.
The 2032 Games would be held over three venue ‘hubs’ – Brisbane, the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, with regional locations such as Toowoomba, Townsville, Cairns, and the Whitsundays also being explored for certain events.
As part of its Value Proposition Assessment, the government highlighted the positives of the games for regional areas, which could expect $10 billion in international tourism spending; procurement and supply chain opportunities for regional business; training and hosting opportunities for international teams; and participation in torch relay, cultural festivals and other games activities.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said she was determined a Queensland Olympics must be inclusive of the whole State.
“Two things I have said from day one: the benefits of these games must outweigh the cost and everyone has to share the excitement and the pride,” she said.
