A clever plan to support our locals has been brewed up by the Australian Hotels Association and Carlton United Breweries.

CUB and AHA are committed to raising up to $1 million worth of support through the Coronavirus pandemic, by offering pub-goers the opportunity to buy beer vouchers.

Here is how it works:

1. Go to the Love Your Local website

2. Find your local pub and buy a beer voucher

3. CUB will match your support by shouting you another, so you receive a pint for a pint

4. When your local reopens, head in with your mates, redeem your beer voucher and spend the afternoon catching up over a few cold ones.

If you are unable to find your local pub, tell them to sign up as the website will be updating venues regularly.

"Buying a voucher is a donation to your local at a time when they’re doing it tough," said the website.

There is a warning, however, as if your venue doesn’t reopen, you will not be able to claim any refund.
