Ballarat’s luxury accommodation market has had a boost with news that the new owners of 'Lyon House' in Ballarat Central intend to keep the property operating as short-stay accommodation.

Daniel Nestor and Tony Zelenich of McGrath Ballarat brokered a deal selling the restored and extended 1880s house at 15 Lyons Street for $1.7 million.
The three-year renovation of 'Lyon House' showcases an outstanding example of inner city architecture, where history now marries modern luxury.

The building's historic features are juxtaposed against modern elements including polished concrete floors stained glass windows, marble tiling, wooden board, stucco walls and the original 'gothic' staircase.
A grand oversized, chef inspired kitchen and entertainer's zone with room for a 14-seat dining table is complemented by a walk in pantry abundant in storage.

Upstairs are three bedrooms including a master suite at the front of the home featuring a lavish ensuite and an elaborate walk in robe.

The new owners are Fitzroy-based Mehdi and Colleen Qerim who are continually looking to expand their investment portfolio in the Ballarat region.
They will add 'Lyon House' to their other recently purchased boutique accommodation, 'Lascelles' on Errard Street which they purchased in February for $2.8 million.

David Cook-Doulton, a designer, embarked on the three-year renovation of 'Lyon House' and said he and Martin Shew weren’t intending on selling their successfully operating properties but seized upon an opportunity to expand their operations in the form of Hotel Vera.
