As NSW starts to open up this week in the first signs of economic progression in a post lockdown reality, the anticipated surge in domestic tourism has drawn out one of JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group’s latest listings – The Mighty Hunter located in the NSW Hunter Valley.

Formally known as Potters Tavern and Brewery, the venue has been refurbished and was rebranded by its Melbourne-based owners, ASX-listed Mighty Craft (ASX:MCL) which has resulted in significant consumer engagement with the venue – reportedly in excess of 120,000 visitors in the past 12 months alone. One of Mighty Craft’s key brands, the Foghorn Brewery (‘Foghorn’) will maintain rights over the brewing operation and cellar door at the venue, which allows incoming purchasers to focus on the significant opportunity in food and beverage trade whilst capitalising on the dominant brand recognition of Foghorn.

The sale is the result of a shift in Mighty Craft’s retail strategy and coincides with a significant push into key regional markets by hoteliers throughout the state. JLL Hotels’ Sydney-based team comprised of Ben McDonald, Kate MacDonald and Greg Jeloudev will be steering the Expressions of Interest Campaign which launches today and will close on Wednesday 10 November 2021.

Talking on the sale, JLL Hotels Vice President Kate MacDonald expects interest in the leasehold opportunity to be high given the venue’s proximity to Sydney, scale of the venue and trading upside for a more local management approach.

MacDonald offered, “We see incoming operators drawn to the venue due to the Hunter Valley location and untapped potential for functions and events, including weddings and corporate functions which have been unfortunately put on hold over the past 18 months”.
