Melbourne's WestEnd Hotel sold to Murphys Geelong for circa $1.5 million through CBRE’s Mathew George.
The owner-operators of Murphys Geelong have added the business of the WestEnd Hotel to their hospitality portfolio with exciting expansion plans in the works.
Located at 98 Little Malop Street, Geelong, the business of the 899sqm WestEnd Hotel, formerly the Eureka Hotel, was marketed for circa$1.5 million.
The bar and eatery has a dining room and front bar and is part of the WestEnd precinct which has a collection of laneways, bars, eateries and tourist destinations that are continuing to evolve in unison with the burgeoning Geelong and Surf Coast regions.
CBRE’s Mathew George brokered the deal on behalf of private vendors.
“The wide-reaching enquiry I received on this is evidence the Geelong market is considered one of the fastest growing centres in the nation and large players in our sector are very keen on getting in on the ground floor,” Mr George said.
“Our local purchaser is embarking on some really exciting expansion in the area with another venue acquisition soon to be announced. These new kids on the block could be compared to being Geelong’s version of Melbourne’s Sand Hill Road group.”
The next upcoming opportunity of this type is the sale of the business interest of Geelong’s National Hotel. CBRE’s Mathew George is managing the sale on behalf of the vendor James Ramia who was responsible for the renovation and reopening of the 500sqm facility in 2017.
The National is being offered with a new 10-year lease with four, five-year options. The business is expected to sell for $500,000 with a commencing rent of $150,000 per annum.
