A jewel in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs hospitality royalty, has been sold to the highly regarded Laundy family after a competitive sale process conducted by leading national agency, HTL Property.
Owned by the Bayfield family since 2015, the stately four storey hotel at the intersection of Paddington and Woollahra has changed hands as the cadence of Sydney pub sales quickens.
“We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our time with this magnificent property, and as an extended family we are collectively delighted the hotel has been bought by such an esteemed group in the form of the Laundys” advised fourth generation hotelier, Kaine Bayfield.
Successful purchasers, the Laundy family, are themselves synonymous with not only the Australian pub landscape, but also Sydney’s East.
“We’re looking forward to adding the Light Brigade to our other Eastern Suburbs properties like the Watsons Bay, Bells and Woolloomooloo Bay hotels” advised Stu Laundy.
“A few generations ago our family owned the Woollahra Hotel, and my father played rugby down at Easts; so with my four daughters all having attended school in the area, I’m looking forward to a long association with a part of Sydney we love and know well” Laundy concluded.
The Light Brigade Hotel was sold by HTL Property agents Dan Dragicevich, Sam Handy and Andrew Jolliffe.
“When fourth generation hoteliers buy from fourth generation hoteliers, it says something patently clear about the longevity and strength of an asset class” offered HTL Property Managing Director, Andrew Jolliffe.
“This iconic Eastern Suburbs pub sale warrants recognition for not only the materiality of the transaction alone, but also the messaging it seeks to underscore in respect of the continued magnetism of A-grade hotel assets nationwide” Jolliffe concluded.
