Barry Robinson, President and Managing Director of International Operations, Wyndham Destinations has been named Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2022 GNEX Conference Perspective Magazine Awards, held in Las Vegas.
Barry Robinson, President and Managing Director of International Operations, Wyndham Destinations has been honoured for his visionary leadership amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. He has been named Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2022 GNEX Conference Perspective Magazine Awards, held in Las Vegas.
Wyndham Destinations is a division of Travel + Leisure Co. (TNL: NYSE) the world's leading membership and leisure travel company. With offices on Australia’s Gold Coast, Japan, China, Thailand, Indonesia and in Singapore, Barry leads the company’s growth outside of North America. He oversees three vacation clubs across Asia Pacific: Club Wyndham South Pacific, Club Wyndham Asia and the recently launched Innovative Holiday Club.
After expanding into Japan in 2019, the company is the largest timeshare operation outside of North America with resorts in 10 countries, close to 71,000 vacation club members and some 3,000 associates. It has a consumer finance portfolio in excess of AU$300 million, a full-service travel agency and a member benefit program that offers vacation exchange and discounts on big brand purchases.
Under Barry’s leadership, the group’s operations have grown from four properties across Australia and Fiji to more than 70 resorts, and Club Wyndham South Pacific has an asset portfolio in excess of AUD $1 billion. Since joining the company in 2003, Barry has grown EBITDA by 40x since 2003 and has strategically led the company to withstand challenges experienced in the industry from the impacts of COVID-19.
Barry was also recognised for his significant work in the social responsibility space, particularly his leadership in creating benchmarks with sustainable practices across the Wyndham Destinations resort network.

Considered one of the highest honours in the hospitality industry, the Perspective Magazine Awards recognises global companies and individuals for their achievements within the vacation industry over the past year. The 12th annual Perspective Magazine Awards was held at the Wynn in Las Vegas.
Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific was recognised with four Perspective Magazine awards in total. It was also awarded Best Overall Company Over 250 Employees, Best Legal Services and Best Hotel/Resort Development for its resort, Club Wyndham Flynns Beach.
