And with the commencement of construction on this project today, this site will now be transformed into a Social Hub and a space where global travellers and local guests can meet and form a dynamic and adventurous community”
“We are also excited to be working with Accor, a perfect partner for this unique building who will operate the hotel under their signature 25hours hotel lifestyle brand, a first for Sydney and Australia,” Wayne concluded.
Mike Rodrigues, 24 Hour Economy Commissioner welcomed the addition to Sydney’s lifestyle and entertainment scene. “This development plays an important part in the future of Oxford Street and the future of the city. The 25hours Paddington, restaurants, bars, live performance and music space will add a new vibrancy and diversity to this precinct, creating a dynamic and adventurous community and draw international and local visitors to the city.”
Situated in the heart of the Oxford Street Village Centre near the Sydney CBD at the historic 1-11 Oxford Street Paddington, the original building was the site of Marshall’s Paddington Brewery before being replaced by West’s Olympia Pictures in 1911 – becoming a destination for Sydney’s movie lovers for nearly 50 years. In the 90’s, it was home to the Grand Pacific Blue Room – one of Sydney’s hottest nightclubs. Now, the historic location will embark on a new era, set to become one of Australia’s leading leisure and lifestyle precincts under the 25hours Hotel.
The development, scheduled for completion in 2023, will include a boutique hotel with 105 guest rooms, a spectacular rooftop bar, central garden courtyard, destination restaurant, café, retail and state-of-the-art entertainment and live performance facilities.
Sarah Derry, Chief Executive Officer for Accor said, “We are excited to be bringing 25hours to Sydney. The hotel experience will be uniquely characterised by its Paddington location – reflecting the diverse creative and cultural scene of the neighbourhood and the local community. The rooftop bar, hotel suites, restaurant, art and entertainment spaces will be carefully curated with local flavour and will be a must-visit destination for Sydney residents and hotel guests alike.”
Award-winning Australian based Tonkin Zulaikha Greer are the visionary architects behind the hotel which will be built by Richard Crookes Constructions. The hotel is due to open in 2023.
