Footy fever has officially hit Brisbane, with Accor hotels across the city experiencing a surge in bookings and a major spike in performance ahead of this week’s NRL Magic Round – one of the hottest tickets on the sporting calendar.
Running from 1–4 May 2025, Magic Round is transforming the city into a rugby league mecca, with every game played at the iconic Suncorp Stadium, including the blockbuster opening of the Ampol Women’s State of Origin Series on Thursday night.
Accor – the official accommodation partner of the NRL and NRLW – is at the heart of the action, welcoming thousands of visitors, fans and media to its 19 hotels across Brisbane under brands like Sofitel, Pullman, The Sebel, Novotel, Mantra, Mercure, and ibis Styles.
With year-on-year performance growth across its Brisbane properties, Accor is bringing the footy energy indoors with themed lobby takeovers, pop-up fan zones, match-inspired menus, and in-room surprises. For those who know their Meninga from their Munster, there's even a national Footy Trivia challenge for the chance to win a $500 ALL.com voucher.
“Magic Round is more than a sports event – it’s a city-wide celebration that puts Brisbane on the national stage,” said Adrian Williams, Chief Operating Officer for Accor in the Pacific. “The strong performance we’re seeing across our hotels this week highlights the incredible pull of live sport as a tourism and economic driver. Our teams are going all out to deliver unforgettable experiences for every guest.”
The city is already buzzing, with multi-day passes sold out and only a handful of Friday and Ampol Women’s State of Origin I on Thursday night tickets still up for grabs. Visitors are being encouraged to soak up Brisbane’s renowned dining scene, rooftop bars and natural beauty while in town – adding to the broader economic uplift for local businesses.
As the appetite for live experiences continues to grow, Accor is proud to support major sporting codes like the NRL and help shape Brisbane’s reputation as a leading destination for big events and unforgettable stays.
