Following hotel growth on the Gold Coast, Canford are offering for sale a hotel development site in Surfers Paradise which is proposed to be home to a new 200 room 4/5 star international hotel.
Laura Langford from Canford Property Group has commented on the trends in the Gold Coast hotel market, "The latest tourism data for the Gold Coast has seen the biggest shift away from serviced apartments towards hotels for key groups including baby boomers, millennials and the increase in Asian tourists travelling independently."
"These groups want all the hotel services, luxury facilities and technology at their finger tips. They want a social scene where they can connect with likeminded others. These groups enjoy experiencing the eclectic eateries and bars available on the Gold Coast so they don’t need the fully functioning kitchens you find in serviced apartments."
Canford Property Group, together with tier one builder Multiplex, have been engaged to advise on a feasibility for a site in Surfers Paradise which is proposed to be the destination for a new 200 room 4/5 star international hotel.

Laura Langford further commented, "the 2,129m2 site has a DA for 211 apartments over 45 levels however, the site has been identified as a suitable location by an international hotel brand. As there is growing demand for new hotel rooms, we see this as a fantastic package for the incoming investor; they can input their design ideas and the land owners are flexible on their exit terms."
Roland Evans from Canford Property Group told WILLIAMS MEDIA "The pro forma of the proposed hotel is 200 keys over 20 levels to capture ocean, Gold Coast iconic skyline and hinterland views. The room sizes will be approximately 28m2 plus balconies. One level of car parking and resort facilities including a swimming pool, conference centre and a restaurant/bar will also compliment the accommodation."

"There is a Memorandum of Understanding in play for the management rights from the International Hotel brand, thus offering potential income security for the investor upon completion of the build.”
