The freehold and business of the Astra Hotel Broken Hill for sale by CBRE Hotels' Mathew George.
The freehold and business of the Astra Hotel in Broken Hill is being offered for sale, presenting an opportunity to own part of the town’s history dating back to the 1890s.
CBRE Hotels has been appointed to market the imposing double-storey brick building, which is located on the corner of Argent and Oxide Streets in the heart of Broken Hill – the birthplace of international mining giant BHP.
BHP, known by the nickname “the Big Australian”, began its rich history in in a silver, lead and zinc mine in the western NSW township.
The Astra - one of Broken Hill’s best-known, best located venues - is situated on circa 1,012sqm of land and offers a combined street frontage of approximately 70 metres.
The asset provides an array of hospitality offerings in various bars, dining and café options, together with quality accommodation and function areas. The hotel boasts massive verandahs on the ground floor giving patrons an undercover alfresco alternative along with large ornate balconies (with a separate bar) wrapping around the first floor.
The CBRE Hotels selling agent Mathew George said the asset incorporated multiple opportunities for an incoming purchaser/owner to tap into varied income streams and build on the momentum established by the current family owners, who have held the asset for over 20 years.
Expressions of interest close 15 June 2022.
