Jack Duggan’s Irish pub Bathurst sold by MQ & Associates director Leonard Bongiovanni. A hotel has been trading onsite since 1849, twenty years after Jack Duggan (the wild colonial boy) broke out of Bathurst Gaol to become a bushranger.
Jack Duggan’s Irish pub is a much-loved local institution, offering award-winning traditional Irish food and quality accommodation in the centre of vibrant Bathurst. A hotel has been trading onsite since 1849, twenty years after Jack Duggan (the wild colonial boy) broke out of Bathurst Gaol to become a bushranger.
The pub’s striking period-style two-storey façade leads to an immaculate interior with a lively front bar, large bistro and commercial kitchen. A generous rear courtyard is accessed via a large council car park with space for 330 vehicles. Upstairs, 10 accommodation rooms sleep up to 34 people.
The purchaser, a regional-based hotel group seeking a prime passive investment, intends to lease the property following some minor interior works.
“Jack Duggan’s is a popular and well-run Irish pub that’s won countless awards over the past decade for its great food, drinks and hospitality,” said Leonard Bongiovanni at MQ & Associates.
“It promises to be an attractive entry-level leasehold opportunity for a new entrant or existing operator. The venue has a proven track record while offering huge growth potential, supported by Bathurst’s strong year-round visitor numbers. The proposed $70 million Bathurst Integrated Medical Centre development on the same block will also drive increased trade during construction and once the centre is complete,” said Bongiovanni.
The sale of Jack Duggan’s Irish Pub follows a string of recent regional sales brokered by MQ & Associates, including the Blue Mountain Hotel Lawson, Dubbo’s Blue Lagoon Motor Inn, and the record-breaking sale of Orange’s iconic Hotel Canobolas.
