Offered for sale for the first time in over 20 years, the sale campaign is being handled exclusively by Lachlan Persley, Executive via Private Treaty.

The property occupies a commanding corner position within Bendigo’s commercial and retail precinct, and is strategically positioned on the doorstep of the new GovHub.

‘The Metro’ as it is affectionately known, has been a Bendigo icon for over 100 years and is well maintained by the owners. The business operates numerous trading areas comprising a large public bar and bistro, two upstairs function rooms with private bars, a generous courtyard/beer garden and an extensive sweeping balcony overlooking Bendigo’s Town Hall. The pub benefits from a generous patron capacity of up to 533 and a valuable 3am liquor licence.

Bendigo is experiencing enormous growth and is one of Victoria’s fastest growing regional economies with a forecast population growth to over 200,000 by 2055. The GovHub is a recent government initiative to boost the local economy and create jobs. Completion is earmarked for early this year with 1,000 government workers expected to occupy the new offices.

“The Metro is a historically profitable business that is currently operating 4.5 days a week. With increased trading hours, completion of the $120m GovHub and the newly opened Law Courts, the hotel has significant trading upside”, Persley said.

“We are currently seeing a lot of demand in the Bendigo area with little supply. Having received a significant amount of enquiry from JLL Hotels recently marketing The Foundry Hotel, we expect the same level of interest for The Metro”, he concluded.
