Nestled in the Southern Alps, midway between Christchurch and the West Coast, Wilderness Lodge Arthur’s Pass woos guests with stylish accommodation, stunning scenery and nature discovery.
The property is for sale through Bayleys New Zealand’s Wayne Keene, John Greenwood, Allister Simpson and Kate Mullins.
The lodge sits on a more than 14-hectare freehold site surrounded by the spectacular mountains of Arthur’s Pass National Park.
Its two lodge buildings contain 24 guest rooms and a high-quality licensed restaurant, all with mountain views. Two houses, with two and four bedrooms respectively, provide managers’ accommodation.
Mullins says the vendors also own the adjacent Cora Lynn Station.
The property is for sale as a freehold going concern – selling the land, buildings, chattels and goodwill of the accommodation business.
The Arthur’s Pass lodge operates from September to May and hosts 52 guests at full capacity. This lodge business can be bought individually, or together with Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki.
The owners will consider selling this to the buyers of Wilderness Lodge Arthur’s Pass if they are interested in both properties.
“This expansive property generates income from sheep and beef farming, as well as mānuka honey and native forest registered in the Emissions Trading Scheme. It also hosts visitor activities and accommodation for lodge staff. The vendors will consider selling this station to buyers of Wilderness Lodge Arthur’s Pass if they are interested, said Mullins.
A Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment study found that scenery and wilderness are the biggest drawcard for overseas visitors – cited by almost 40 percent. The most popular activity – enjoyed by two-thirds – is walking or hiking.
