JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group agents Tom Gleeson, Christian Tsalikis and Mark Walsh offer the freehold investment for sale of The Matso’s Brewery, located in the beautiful Sunshine Coast suburb of Eumundi directly opposite the entrance to the Eumundi Markets.
JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group is proud to exclusively offer to market the freehold investment of The Matso’s Brewery, located in the beautiful Sunshine Coast suburb of Eumundi.
Matso’s Sunshine Coast is situated on a 3,474sqm site, directly opposite the entrance to the Eumundi Markets, Australia’s largest open-aired market, attracting over 1.6 million visitors annually, and a short drive from the popular tourist hub of Noosa Heads. The Matso’s Brewery is being offered as a sale and lease back; with Good Drinks Australia (GDA) staying on as tenant under a long-term lease.
Formerly Joe’s Waterhole, the venue has recently undergone a $7.5 million transformative redevelopment by its current owner and operator, ASX listed Good Drinks Australia Ltd (GDA), and is now the coastal home for the Matso’s brand in Queensland.
The development brilliantly preserves the original heritage portion of the hotel and front bar which has operated as a pub since 1896. To the rear, an expansive dining area has been built with a new bar and restaurant, large seating area and high ceilings. A new kitchen and toilets as well as a fully operating brewery and distillery surround the space. The dining area opens out onto a picturesque beer garden with a large playground in landscaped gardens for the kids to enjoy.
Like the iconic Gage Roads A Shed development in Fremantle, Matso’s Sunshine Coast has been created as an immersive branded experience.
Matso’s Brewery has operated out of its original Broome home in WA since 1997 and has since then has grown to become Australia’s largest Independent Ginger Beer brand. Queenslanders’ love of ginger beer led the Good Drinks team to create a second home in the Sunshine State.
“Over the past decade the popularity of Matso’s Ginger Beer in Queensland has continued to grow and grow. We felt it was the perfect place for our second home to allow us to share Matsos’s with more people and to better immerse ourselves into the local community” said Good Drinks Hospitality Director, Aaron Heary.
“However the land came as part of the acquisition of the venue, and we are brand builders at heart, not land holders. The sale and lease back of the land will free up capital to allow us to double down on our invest in our brands to continue to grow in the QLD market” said Heary.
“The Matso’s Sunshine Coast Brewery offering boasts the key investment fundamentals passive investors are seeking; a long-term lease, recent capital works, large land holding, and a lease underwritten by a reputable ASX listed tenant – all while being located in the beautiful Sunshine Coast Region; we are excited to see the interest this asset will generate.” Stated Senior Vice President, Tom Gleeson.
The process comes on the back of a period of activity for the region with the opening of The Doonan and purchase of the nearby Imperial Hotel by the well regarded Comiskey Group.
Aaron Heary added “It’s fantastic to see such significant investment into the region and we are buoyed about the future of the Matso’s Brewery and the Sunshine Coast Region in the long term. We couldn’t be happier with the venue’s performance and the growth of the brand’s awareness following the opening”.
