ResortBrokers’ Tasmania specialist Marissa von Stieglitz has settled the sale of one of the Apple Isle’s most storied hotels.

Built by business mogul Reg Ansett in 1948, the historic Lufra Hotel at Eaglehawk Neck on the Tasman Peninsula was snapped up by CameraPro founder Jesse Hunter.

Ms von Stieglitz says buyer demand for Tasmanian properties is the highest she has ever seen in over 10 years as a broker. Interstate investors are showing the strongest interest, comprising almost 90% of buyer enquiries.

“We expected significant interest in Lufra given its unique history and absolutely prime position overlooking Pirates Bay in the Tasman Sea,” says Ms von Stieglitz. “But we received more enquiry than even we anticipated from local, interstate and even international buyers. We’re excited to see how Lufra develops under Jesse Hunter.”

Lufra is located at Eaglehawk Neck, known as “the gateway to the Tasman Peninsula” being the isthmus that connects the Forestier Peninsula with the Tasman Peninsula.

Eaglehawk Neck is a popular overnight stop for tourists travelling between Hobart, about an hours’ drive away, and Port Arthur, on the Tasman Peninsula, about 20 minutes’ drive away.
