JLL’s (NYSE: JLL) Hotel & Hospitality Group today announced the appointment of Jon Cannon as Senior Vice President, Asset Management. Based in Bangkok, he will focus on expanding JLL Hotel & Hospitality Group’s asset management platform in Thailand and Vietnam, building on JLL’s strong asset management presence in Asia Pacific with 20,000+ keys and $10 billion assets under management.
In his newly-created role, Jon will report to Sashi Rajan, Executive Vice President, Asset Management, Asia Pacific, JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group. His appointment will complement a consistent expansion of the Asset Management business in Asia Pacific and will integrate seamlessly with JLL’s 18 hotel specialists on the ground in Thailand and Vietnam covering advisory, brokerage and development services.
“Jon is a seasoned member of the hospitality business community in Southeast Asia and will bring a unique perspective from the operator side of the hotel industry. As Thailand and Vietnam continue their recovery, there is a clear need to reinvent hospitality concepts to remain relevant, run efficient operations, and to stand out in terms of revenue and marketing strategies. Given our deep knowledge of these markets, we feel that now is the right time to scale up to support hotel investors as their owner representative and asset manager. Clients are increasingly recognising the need for hands-on hospitality expertise from their asset manager and we believe that JLL continues to raise the bar in this growing market,” says Rajan.
To JLL, Jon brings over 20 years of relevant hotel operations experience, including the past eight years working in Thailand’s hospitality industry. He joins JLL from Accor where he held General Manager roles in Bangkok, Samui, Phuket, and across Australia. Jon started his career with Marriott International and has also worked on numerous independent hotels.
He is also an active member of the broader hospitality business community, serving on the board of AusCham Thailand and as a guest lecturer on Business and Hospitality for Nurture Education in Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business.
“I am delighted that Jon is joining JLL to further bolster our hospitality and asset management capabilities. Through our property and asset management services we are already looking after 7.5 sqm in commercial, retail and residential assets across Thailand, and we can now extend this deep real estate knowledge further into hotels and mixed use,” says Michael Glancy, Country Head, Thailand, JLL.
