Tom Sawayanagi is International Director of JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group, and heads up its Tokyo office. The services he covers range from advisory, investment sales and other related activities in Japan. He is also responsible for being a liaison on behalf of its overseas offices regarding hotel assets owned by Japanese investors.
Key Skills and Experience
Tom took up this role in June 2000, after being Vice President, Real Estate Finance, Investment Banking, Greenwich NatWest Securities, Tokyo Branch, where he was responsible for origination and asset management of the non-recourse lending to the Non-Performing Loan buyers in Japan. Also he extended various advices to the potential originators of hotel securitization and potential hotel investors.
Tom has been playing a key role on various hotel transactions, including the JPY280bn ANA portfolio, Niseko Village Ski Resort, the "b" hotel portfolio, as well as Westin Resort Guam. He has been also in charge of numerous operator selection and contract negotiation regarding Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, The Ritz-Carlton Tokyo, as well as Amanemu. In addition to his leadership role at JLL HHG team in Asia, Tom is also an in-demand speaker at leading hotel/real estate conferences.
