The group accelerates expansion plans this week with the opening of Cordis, Shanghai, Hongqiao, signing of Cordis Hangzhou and the re-branding of its Auckland property to a Cordis hotel.
Within close proximity to the National Exhibition and Convention Centre, the hotel is seamlessly connected to the Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and Metro Lines 2 and 10 via underground and overhead access. The Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is only 20 minutes’ walk and 5 minutes’ drive away. Exceptionally convenient for travellers is a check-in lounge for selected airlines in the mall linked to the hotel. Guests may check-in their luggage and choose to take the shuttle service from the lounge to Terminal 2 of the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.
Welcoming guests with modern interiors and exceptional attention to detail, 26 May will mark the first stage of Cordis, Shanghai,Hongqiao’s opening comprising 144 stylish, upscale rooms, the hotel’s all-day-dining restaurant, C Market and the lobby featuring beautiful art pieces which portray Shanghainese heritage. Guests will be greeted by life-size ceramic sculptures of women in qipao, some holding umbrellas and others with children. Above these sculptures is a chandelier which depicts rain drops, setting the scene with ladies and children rushing on a rainy day in Shanghai.
In the second phase of the hotel’s opening in late June, there will be a total of 396 guestrooms when all facilities are completed. In line with Cordis’ brand essence of devotion to the well-being of our guests, the hotel is the first in Asia Pacific to work with PureLiving, a leading indoor air quality consultancy, investing in the latest filtration system technology which maintains the indoor air within US EPA PM2.5 standards. PM (particulate matter) is a complex mixture of extremely small particles and liquid droplets in the air. Once inhaled, these particles can affect the heart and lungs and cause serious health effects. At Cordis, Shanghai, Hongqiao, the air quality is continuously monitored in every single guestroom, ensuring that the air quality stays optimum and the in-room TV displays real-time air quality index of both outdoor and indoor air for the benefit of all guests.
The effort in keeping the indoor air clean is in line with the Shanghai government’s initiative to promote a smoke-free environment. Cordis, Shanghai, Hongqiao is also a smoke-free hotel.
The hotel’s four food and beverage outlets offer lively culinary experiences that reflect the Shanghainese cosmopolitan culture. C Market is a European and Pan-Asian inspired restaurant using fresh farm ingredients while Chinese restaurant Xi Wei showcases contemporary Shanghainese and Cantonese cuisine. Xi Wei will offer some of the best Japanese sake, signature cocktails, exotic spirits, and artisanal single malt whiskies curated from all corners of the globe as well as premium wine, beer and exclusive Chinese wines at the restaurant. Our sommelier will interact with guests to customise sake and wine selections that perfectly pair with the dishes.
The 24-hour Lobby Lounge is the social centre of community where people meet and have breakfast, light bites, indulge in bespoke afternoon tea and coffee throughout the day. Connection 12, the roof top bar adjacent to the swimming pool at the terrace provides the perfect ambience for social gatherings.
Right below Connection 12 is the 24-hour fitness studio with state-of-the-art equipment, free weights and cardio-challenging machines where guests can continue to keep fit and stay healthy at Cordis, Shanghai, Hongqiao. Complementing the fitness studio is The Spa where massage therapists combine traditional Chinese massage techniques and customized blended oils to restore balance and harmony.
With a separate access from the main lobby, Cordis, Shanghai, Hongqiao will have over 1,600 square metres of dedicated event space including two ballrooms for conferences and special occasions – the 580-square-metre Shanghai Grand Ballroom and the 440-square-metre Hongqiao Ballroom. Both pillar-less ballrooms may accommodate 600 guests each. In addition, there are six dedicated break-out rooms with natural light, which host banquets, meetings, weddings and other memorable events.
As the latest addition to The Hub, an epicentre of business and leisure, Cordis, Shanghai, Hongqiao is set to introduce both corporate business guests and leisure travellers to the unique heartfelt hospitality of this new brand of Langham Hospitality Group.
