Australia’s leading regional tourism business, G’day Group, has further expanded its Discovery Parks portfolio after securing the sub-lease for Bargara Beachfront Holiday Park, near Bundaberg.
It follows an open tender process run by the Bundaberg Regional Council to take over management of the popular tourist destination under a 20-year lease term, with the park to become known as Discovery Parks – Bargara.
Located 15 minutes east of Bundaberg, the large, 6.7-hectare property boasts 319 tourist sites, comprising 15 cabins, 226 powered sites and 78 unpowered sites. It also offers guests access to a wide range of amenities both on-site and in the adjoining Nielson Park coastal precinct, including a playground, skate park, bike and water sport equipment hire, off-leash dog park, tennis and volleyball courts, walking trails, BBQs and a camp kitchen.
G’day Group Founder and Chief Executive Officer Grant Wilckens said the park offered significant opportunity for the Group along a key coastal drive route.
“This is a fantastic strategic deal for the Group to add another Discovery Parks destination in a tightly held coastal location,” he said.
“With significant development upside, we have an exciting opportunity to enhance tourism in the Bundaberg region, working closely with the Council as it looks to enact its masterplan to develop the Nielson Park precinct.
“We thank Council for their support and look forward to unlocking the park’s potential through additional investment and our proven model of marketing, distribution and operations management.”
As part of the sub-lease arrangement with the Bundaberg Regional Council, G’day Group will invest an initial $2 million as part of broader $10 million investment commitment over the lease term.
Discovery Parks – Bargara becomes the fourth property to join the Group’s portfolio in 2025, taking the total number of Discovery Parks and Resorts across Australia to more than 90.
