Marriott International has announced local re-introduction of the iconic Ritz-Carlton brand across Australia.
An exciting announcement is set to be made by US hotel giant Marriott International. They have signed a memorandum of understanding with a developer to reintroduce the famed Ritz-Carlton brand in Sydney. The location has not yet been announced, but is expected to be confirmed early next year.
Marriott has also announced that Perth, Melbourne and Auckland are set to have new Ritz-Carlton Hotels developed in their cities.
The 205-room, $500 million Perth Ritz-Carlton development is already underway-and ahead of schedule-with both the basement and podium construction in progress, by Hong Kong’s Far East Consortium. It is expected to open mid 2019 as part of the city’s Elizabeth Quay development.
The hotel will be part of a 28-level tower which includes residential apartments. Elizabeth Quay has attracted more than 6.6 million tourists since it opened in December 2016 and is estimated to boost tourism expenditure in Western Australia by $348 million by 2025-26.
“We are well underway to seeing this stunning hotel come to life,” Far East Consortium chairman David Chiu said. “We are looking forward to working closely with Marriott International and Probuild to ensure The Ritz-Carlton, Perth opens on time and to the highest standard.”
Marriott International senior director of development, Richard Crawford, said reintroduction of the brand to Perth would set the wheels in motion for further Ritz-Carlton Hotels in Australia’s gateway cities.
“We have a massive cohort of really loyal Ritz-Carlton international guests who have been starved of product in Australia. That brand is so powerful it has the ability to create new markets.”
Far East Consortium is also developing a Ritz-Carlton in Melbourne’s Spencer Street, while developer NDG is building a Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Auckland.
