Hecker Guthrie-designed luxury boutique The Mitchelton Hotel and Spa is set to help attract more visitors to the Nagambie region, near Melbourne.
Mitchelton Winery Estate, near Nagambie, a 90-minute drive from Melbourne, is owned by caravan magnate Gerry Ryan and his son Andrew, and is set on the banks of the Goulburn River. On 1 December 2017, they extended the estate by opening the $16 million, 58-key luxury boutique The Mitchelton Hotel and Spa.
‘The Hotel and Day Spa is something that we wanted to develop early on with our acquisition of the estate,’ said Andrew Ryan, Managing Director of the Mitchelton property. “It has always been the missing piece in the puzzle for Mitchelton. Goulburn Valley and Nagambie have so much to offer, we have high hopes that the addition of the accommodation facility will help attract more visitors to the region and boost local tourism.”
To fuse the design with the property’s existing Robin Boyd structures, internationally renowned architecture and interior design firm Hecker Guthrie took inspiration from the local terrain and wine producing background. Earthy tones were painted in the rooms to reflect the look of the countryside and horse stud district.
Guests will enjoy the luxurious Australian Uspa natural skincare products used in the Spa, and the 20-metre infinity pool, which is set on a terrace landscaped by Jamie Clapham on the banks of the Goulburn River.
