Canberra developers, Doma, have received development approval to bring a $120 million 230-room Little National Hotel to Sydney’s CBD - expected to open October next year.
The hotel will reach 12 storeys above the Clarence Street entry to Wynyard Station, perfectly centred between Barangaroo, Bridge Street and Martin Place. The hotel will provide 230 luxurious rooms, a guest gym, sprawling library and exclusive rooftop lounge and bar.
The very popular Little National brand has its roots in the nation’s capital, and Doma Group’s Managing Director, Jure Domazet, says much of this success stems from Little National’s innovative design and unique positioning.
“At Little National, a smaller room in a super-prime location provides affordable luxury with no compromise on hotel room essentials or design aesthetics. You get the essential touchpoints of a 5-star hotel room without the price tag—allowing you to experience more of what your destination has to offer.”
Doma has worked closely with Bates Smart architects on minor updates to its luxurious rooms, whose size is offset by the spacious and soft-furnished libraries and lounges throughout the hotel. The east face of the Little National will be home to a vertical garden, featuring an array of screening plants carefully selected to adapt to the conditions at each height of the building. The rooftop lounge and bar will be the ideal destination to retreat to during the day or to begin the night with a sophisticated atmosphere and city views.
“With the hotel positioned above Wynyard Walk, Little National guests will walk unimpeded and undercover to Barangaroo within minutes. Sydney’s new landmark destination, Barangaroo, is a world of new experiences—including a world-class dining precinct, a showcase of contemporary architecture and art installations, and a six-hectare redesigned headland for recreation.” Said Mr. Domazet.
“Having such proximity to Wynyard Station will mean the hotel is easily accessible to Sydney airport, making Little National the perfect destination for both business and leisure travel. Our Little National Hotels aim to make our host cities walkable, enabling our guests to conveniently enjoy the best that our destinations have to offer.”
Doma are set to commence construction of the hotel in September, with the widely anticipated grand opening in October 2019. The hotel is one of three Little National Hotels, with the Newcastle location to open in early 2020.
