Crowne Plaza Auckland was successful in securing New Zealand’s Leading Business Hotel for the second year running, whilst Holiday Inn Auckland Airport was a first-time winner, taking out Australasia’s Leading Airport Hotel.
With the InterContinental Hotels Group New Zealand portfolio set to grow with Holiday Inn Express Auckland City Centre announced to open in 2020; Even Hotel Auckland in 2021; Hotel Indigo Auckland in 2021 and InterContinental Auckland in 2022, the existing Crowne Plaza Auckland and Holiday Inn Auckland Airport were among the notable winners at the World Travel Awards recently held in Hong Kong.
“We are very proud to be recognised as Australasia’s Leading Airport Hotel. The win is testament to the $3m refurbishment of our public spaces, allowing a new cultural and vibrant personality to shine from within” said Holiday Inn Auckland Airport General Manager, Scott Schaefer.
“From check-in to departure, there’s plenty to do to keep the colleagues or the family entertained and comfortable while you wait for your next flight or meeting. Our investment into games and other family-friendly amenities reinforces the Holiday Inn family proposition and what the brand is known for worldwide.”
IHG’s Auckland portfolio is set to continue growing, with Holiday Inn Express Auckland City Centre announced to open in 2020; Even Hotel Auckland in 2021; Hotel Indigo Auckland in 2021 and InterContinental Auckland in 2022.
The refurbishment features a new ground floor restaurant and bar, hotel lobby, reception, swimming pool and outdoor area, which have been transformed into eye-catching yet welcoming spaces.
Tim Pollock, Crowne Plaza Auckland General Manager gives praise to the hotel team for the “great achievement.”
“To win two years in a row is a great achievement. The award reflects the commitment of our staff to ensure all guests have a wonderful experience.”
This year's win is Crowne Plaza Auckland’s fourth, being named New Zealand’s Leading Business Hotel in 2014, 2015 and 2017.
“It confirms that we know what our guests want when they come to Auckland. It also creates confidence that we can adapt and deliver a high level of service to meet all our guest expectations.
We’re the perfect base for guests who come to the city for business, pleasure, or a little bit of both” said Mr. Pollock.
The hotel launched its new brand tagline ‘We’re all business, mostly’ in 2017, in recognition of business travellers wanting to make the most of every opportunity when travelling for work.
IHG’s capital city property, InterContinental Wellington, also won two World Travel Awards, Australasia’s Leading Conference Hotel and New Zealand’s Leading Hotel Suite.
