Gold Coast locals and visitors will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the incredible culinary skill of the world-famous Iron French Chef Hiroyuki Sakai at Ramada Hope Harbour during March.
Renowned for his six seasons on the popular Japanese television series Iron Chef, Chef Sakai will team up with high-profile Melbourne father and son duo Ikuei Arakane and Masahide Arakane and Ramada Hope Harbour Head Chef David Pommier to create a delicious six course degustation experience.
“Welcoming this level of culinary royalty to Ramada Hope Harbour is not just a coup for our hotel, but for the Gold Coast,” said General Manager Rene Stern. “Attracting a professional of Chef Sakai’s calibre and profile to the city speaks volumes about the excellence of our food scene.
“Diners in our Harbour Cove ballroom will be treated to an incredible degustation menu featuring high-quality Australian and international ingredients. This event will be a night to remember.”
With the action from the kitchen live-streamed to the ballroom and expert commentary provided by chefs, guests will be captivated by the craft that goes into preparing fine food.
The show Iron Chef ran between 1993 and 1999 and pitted challengers against one of four Iron Chefs: Japanese, French, Chinese or Italian. Chef Sakai was appointed Iron Chef French in 1994 and featured in the second highest number of episodes of any chef, recording 70 wins out of 86 battles for an impressive winning percentage of 82.4 per cent.
Chef Sakai is an expert in creating dishes that reflect the Japanese seasons and the mood of France, and is affectionately known by some as the “Delacroix of French Cuisine”, after the leading French Romantic artist from the 19th Century.
The culinary event will be held at Ramada Hope Harbour on the evenings of March 8 and 9 and will run from 6pm to 9:30pm. Tickets are expected to sell out and are currently available for $289 each.
