New Zealand Bloodstock, a bloodstock auction, insurance, airfreight and finance company, has begun constructing a new hotel at Karaka, the Double Tree by Hilton.
The official groundbreaking of the upcoming Double Tree by Hilton was celebrated on July 11 at New Zealand Bloodstock’s iconic Sales Centre.
Papakura MP Judith CollinsHon cut the ribbon on the first major earthwork at NZB’s Hinau Road site for the 120 room hotel development, due for completion in January 2021.
The first and only hotel to be situated in the Papakura-Franklin area, its' located 30 minutes drive south of Auckland City and 20 minutes from Auckland Airport.
At the event, Andrew Seabrook, Managing Director of NZB, described that the project will offer 120 stylish guest rooms, including four suites, a restaurant and bar, along with conference facilities set amongst the picturesque Sales Centre at Karaka.
“We’re thrilled to get construction underway. This hotel will not only be appealing to our international thoroughbred and standardbred clients, but also to tourists, business operators and event organisers alike,” said Seabrook. Hilton, the leading global hotel company, will manage the hotel under their DoubleTree by Hilton brand.
DoubleTree by Hilton Karaka will be a wonderful expansion of the DoubleTree brand in New Zealand, joining four other DoubleTree by Hilton branded properties across the country, including DoubleTree by Hilton Napier Hotel & Suites which is due to open in the later part of the year.
