Marriott International have announced that John Douglas has been appointed Area Director of Finance, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, overseeing the financial functions and operations of more than 30 properties in the region.
Effective immediately, John Douglas will oversee the financial functions and operations across Marriott International’s more than 30 operating properties in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
John steps into the role with more than 20 years of experience with Marriott International, commencing his career at Brisbane Marriott Hotel in 1999 as Assistant Controller.
He was promoted to Director of Finance at Melbourne Marriott Hotel in 2002, before moving into a series of overseas assignments. In 2004, John took up the position of Director of Finance at JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa in Hawaii, and two years later he moved to the Caribbean as Director of Finance at the expansive Aruba Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino and MVCI Residences.
Following this, John spent four years in London as Area Director of Finance for the UK and Ireland, managing finance operations for over 60 properties and leading several profitable initiatives.
Most recently, he held the position of General Manager at Brisbane Marriott Hotel, successfully leading the property through an extensive renovation and 20th anniversary celebrations.
In addition to his professional experience, John holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Economics from the University of Queensland.
